Writer's Block: LiveJournal Book Club

Out of all of your favorite books, pick just one you'd recommend everyone read. As a bonus: why did you pick that one?

Hmm... This is a toughy as I have a lot of books that I love. However, there is one particular series by Garth Nix that I'll always be willing to re-read. I call it The Abhorsen Trilogy, though I'm not sure if he ever came up with a name for the series of four books. The books themselves are called Sabriel, Lireal, Abhorsen and Across the Wall.

The series about Necromancy, of all things. But, more of the side of those who put the dead back to rest, using a dying magic of Charter Magic along with old tools, such as a bandoleer for bells and other oddities.

I highly suggest that anyone who is looking for something a little different, pick up these books. They're a great read.

Writer's Block: Dreams

Talk about a recurring dream you've had, or talk about your most vivid dream. What makes it stick in your memory?

Figured I might try out these writer's block thingies. They seem helpful, as I never know what to really write about...

Anyway, I honestly don't have a particular dream that sticks out too much (Other than retarded ones, about cardboard houses and dinosaurs. But, those were all back when I was younger) I use to love dreaming when I was younger. I'd always look forward to a dream I would have that night (and I would have one a night that I could remember). But, they were always so random and fun and meaningless.

Most of my dreams, as of late (within the last few years) have only been nightmares to me. They usually always play on my fears, no matter how simple at the time. Dreams of heart break, cheating, death, being unaccepted when I move, ect. It's for this reason that I've stopped looking forward to dreaming, like I use to.  During these nightmares, I'd always wake up finding my face wet with tears. Luckily I haven't had one in few months now.

But, I suppose there is one dream that's always been reoccurring. I'm sure most people have this dream, though. It's just simply standing on the edge of a cliff and falling. I always wake up suddenly just before I would hit the ground, gasping for air. Some people actually find the feeling of falling (and in my dreams, the feeling of falling is all too real) relaxing and enjoyable. But, like most other things, it just scares the shit out of me. I suppose that just shows my general pessimistic...ness about me. Falling means that at some point you're going to hit the ground. And if you've been falling long enough, you'll hit the ground with enough force to kill ya.
